Planners to visit optician!

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are to visit an optician who erected security shutters at his shop without obtaining the necessary consent.
Officers have told members of the borough’s development control committee that the shutter’s at Adcott’s Opticians, at The Cross, Lymm are out of character with the conservation area in which the shop is situated.
They want the committee to refuse a retrospective planning application.
Local councillor Sheila Woodyatt is supporting the optician.
She says a balance needs to be struck between retaining the character of the conservation area and protecting local businesses.
A planning department spokesman said: “There are alternatives that allow for a balance between obtaining security while at the same time retaining the character and appearance of the conservation area.”
Committee members decided to visit the site before reaching a decision.

  1. Is it just me that thinks it is ludicrous that the planners object when the opticians is next door to The Spar which is the ugliest building in the village?
