A WARRINGTON man is lucky to be alive following an arson attack on his Warrington flat during the early hours of today.
The man’s flat in Warwick Avenue, Bewsey, was deliberately targeted when two wheelie bins were put against the front door of his property and set on fire at 3.30am this morning.
The blaze damaged the front of the property and filled it with smoke forcing the man, believed to be in his mid 20s, to escape through a ground floor window.
Crew Manager Dave Howard from Warrington Fire Service said: “This could have been a very serious life threatening situation.
“Fortunately the occupant was able to escape through a ground floor window.
“The matter is being investigated by our fire investigation team and the police and was a deliberate act to damage this man’s property.”
