Women lose in the final

APPLETON Tigers were beaten in the final of the Loveland Cheshire Women’s Cricket Knockout Cup by holders Chester Boughton Hall.
The Tigers batted first and got off to a good start with both Katie Rudd, 27 and Emma Barlow, 26, reaching retirement scores.
But Appleton then lost key wickets at important times and were restricted to 74-3 in their 20 overs.
Chester coasted to 75-1 with eight overs in hand.
The Twenty20 finals will be played at Alvanley Cricket Club on Bank Holiday Monday when Appleton Tigers will again be in action, defending the Plate against Romily and Dinting.
Chester Boughton Hall will defend the Cup against Poynton Fire.
Play starts at 11.30am.
