TWO Warrington girls played leading roles in a top women’s cricket match.
Emma Barlow and Anni Rashid, who both play for the Appleton women’s side in the Cheshire League, played for a Cheshire Select XI against a strong MCC team at Chester Boughton Hall.
The MCC side, which contained a number of members of England’s World Cup winning side, came out on top, but only after the Cheshire team had put in a spirited performance.
Anni Rashid took a key wicket in the first over of the MCC innings and ended with 2-23 in 10 overs as MCC set a target of 210.
Emma Barlow opened the batting for Cheshire and got the innings off to a good start with 24.
Cheshire suffered a middle-order collapse but kept going to the end with Anni Rashid figuring in a last wicket stand of 38.
