A WARRINGTON junior soccer club has been named “FA Charter Standard National Development Club of The Year 2009.”
Officials of Winwick Athletic FC are jubilant at the national recognition which will result in the club being presented with the award at an England match later this year.
One of the club’s Under 10s teams will play at Wembley on Thursday, August 6.
Secretary Paul McMahon said: “This is superb recognition for all the hard work being put in by our club volunteers on behalf of the local community.
“This really does open the gates for funding applications to support the growth of our football club.”
Sarah Charnock, one of the club’s coaches, is still in with a chance of a national Football Workforce Award too. She was the Lancashire County FA’s only nomination from six county award winners.
