DANCING enthusiast Jo Richardson will be stepping out in a different way when she walks the Grand Canyon to raise money for charity.
Jo, 51, from Croft, will fly to the United States for the six-day trek in September.
She will will walk about eight miles a day and spend three nights in an Indian Reservation.
Mother-of-two Jo is seeking sponsorship and needs to raise £3,000.
She is training by walking up to eight miles a day, swimming and, of course, dancing.
She said: “I am really looking forward to the trip – I have never been to America before and have never slept in a tent, so it should be an experience.”
Jo is raising money for the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.
She has already raised £245 by organising Croft’s first-ever Milonga – an Argentinean Tango gathering – at the village hall.
She decided on the event because of her love of dancing and, in particular, the Tango.
Music was provided by fellow dancer Dino Mavridis and there was support from friends, family and dancing enthusiasts. Local businesses provided prizes for a raffle.
Jo hopes to stage another Milonga in the near future. Anyone interested in sponsoring her should go to www.justgiving.com/caftinthecanyon.
