49 speeding drivers caught

SPEED checks by Police Community Support Officers in the Stockton Heath area caught 49 drivers exceeding the limit – including 16 local people.
PCSO Peter Crellin told the parish council he was now able to use the “endorsable” camera, meaning that drivers can be prosecuted, getting a £60 fixed penalty fine and three penalty points.
He said he had spent 17 hours during the previous month on speed watch and that the local people caught had no excuse that they didn’t know the speed limit.
During the month there were three burglary offences and seven thefts from motor vehicles – including four cars left insecure on driveways.
He also reported 10 counts of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour, some of which were linked to other offences by “nuisance youths.”
