WARRINGTON residents are being urged to play their part in tackling terrorism as part of a new initiative.
The North West Counter Terrorism Unit is supporting the national launch of a campaign telling people “Don’t rely on others’ – if you

suspect it, report it.” The initiative is to highlighted across the North West region with the Anti-Terrorist number 0800 789 321.
Detective Chief Superintendent Tony Porter, head of the NWCTU, said: “We can all play our part in protecting our communities and reporting any suspicious activity. When people provide information to the Anti-Terrorist Hotline they could be giving us the final piece of a complex jigsaw.
“We can’t hope that someone else has reported the issue that could be causing us some concern. It is down to us all as individuals to make sure the call has been made as it could save lives.
“People can report their concerns through the hotline and they will be treated in the strictest confidence and all information is thoroughly researched before any police actions would be taken.”
During the month long initiative cards, postcards and leaflets with the hotline number on will be distributed to communities. People will be encouraged to keep the phone number and store it so they have it to hand if they need to use it.
DCS Porter explained: “We continue to try and find innovative new ways to reach people and ensure they know what to do if they are concerned about suspicious activity. This initiative is the latest phase of that work and is not linked to any current threat.”
