WARRINGTON’S education chief is leaving the borough council – and moving to Australia.
Norma Cadwallader (pictured), strategic director of Children’s Services, will stay with the authority until a successor is appointed to enable a managed handover to take place.
A council spokesperson said: “Norma Cadwallader has decided to retire from Warrington Borough Council and to pursue other opportunities
with her family in Australia.
“The process of recruiting a successor to Norma will start this month and is likely to take a few months. Norma will remain as director of Children’s Services until the new director is able to take up the appointment and there will be a managed handover.”
Chief executive Diana Terris said: “I would like to thank Norma for the valuable personal contribution she has made to Warrington, both in the leadership she has shown to the whole council and specifically to the development of Children’s Services. Norma’s time at the helm in Children’s Services has been marked with a series of significant achievements, including a successful joint area review, outstanding results at key stages 2 and 3 and the best ever GCSE and A-level results, as well as regularly appearing in the top rankings for high performing Children’s Services. In addition, Norma has been a valued member of my senior management team.
“I wish Norma all the very best for the future and hope that she has a happy and relaxing retirement!”
It was only last Friday (February 27) that warrington-worldwide revealed that director of community services Helen Sumner was leaving the borough council.
A number of other senior officers have left the council in recent months, including former finance chief John Hayes and former head of the legal team Cecilia Wraith.
