Councillors tie the knot

TWO Warrington councillors, who have former deputy Prime Minister John Prescott to thank for their meeting, “tied the knot” in a civil ceremony at the town’s Registry Office.
The wedding of two serving councillors is believed to be a Town Hall first.
Councillors Yvonne Fovargue and Paul Kenny, who both represent Fairfield and Howley ward, celebrated with family and friends at Paddington House Hotel, before jetting off to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon.
Coun Kenny told guests: “We have John Prescott MP to thank for today – if it wasn’t for a dinner party we attended with John as guest speaker we may never have met!”
Party political differences were put aside at recent council meetings with fellow councillors and officers extending their congratulations to the couple.
Coun Fovargue said: “Today has been a very special day for both of us and we want to thank everybody who extended good wishes to us.
“We have been very touched by well wishers from across the political divide and from many in the Fairfield and Howley ward.”
The couple met in 1998 when the chance meeting at a Labour Party event, led to a blossoming relationship.
They have campaigned together on numerous issues in the Fairfield and Howley Ward
