A HOODED robber boarded a bus late at night, threatened the driver and made off with a quantity of cash.
Police at Warrington today appealed for witnesses of the 1.20pm robbery on a bus in Warrington Road, Culcheth on Monday (Fenruary 23).
The bus stopped to pick up a passenger near Culcheth Primary School – only for the “passenger” to pull a balaclava over his face, produce a knife or meat cleaver and threatened the driver.
He snatched a small quantity of cash and ran off across fields opposite the school.
There was only one passenger on the bus at the time and neither he nor the driver were harmed, although both were badly shaken.
The offender was about 17-19, about 5ft 10 inches tall and had a pale complexion. He was slim and was wearing a dark blue heavy waterproof overcoat.
Anyone who can help police is asked to call DC Alex Reeves on 01925 652222 or call the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
