Four arrested after jewellery raid

FOUR men were arrested today following a raid on a town centre jewellers’

shop at Warrington.The four fled from the shop – A Baker and Sons in Cairo Street – after smashing their way through stringent security measures shortly after 11am.They smashed display cabinets with a sledgehammer, grabbed a quantity of jewellery and then escaped in a Vauxhall Vectra car. But they were arrested in Greater Manchester only hours later after a police chase.The four men are now being questioned by detectives. No-one is believed to have been hurt in the raid, but staff were left badly shaken.
