FORMER International and Super League Referee Karl Kirkpatrick is set for a new role in the 13 aside sport as ambassador of the new Lymm based summer club the Cheshire Cats.
After a glittering career “in the middle” including Grand Finals and Challenge Cup Finals Karl is delighted with his new role saying: “I am honoured to be asked to be the Cheshire Cats official Ambassador.
“There is a very rich seam of talent in the South Warrington area and this should ensure a bright future for the club.
“I also fully support the concept of Summer rugby for youngsters and the Cats decision to play at this time of year coupled with the playing of fixtures in the Midlands League will – I am sure -act as catalysts for others to follow suit in due course.”
Former Super League Referee of the year and Warrington born Karl added: “I intend to assist the Cheshire Cats in a number of ways both on and off the field of play.”
Cheshire Cats Chairman Neil Waters is equally thrilled with the appointment – “Karl will be a tremendous asset to the club both in terms of being a role model for the club’s youngsters and with his many business and sporting links.”
Training for the new club will commence at Crouchley Lane on Wednesday April 8 at 6.30pm.
The club will start with an under 12s team which will play in the Midlands League starting in May.
