Town's first snow of the winter

0

WARRINGTON today had its first taste of snow this winter.
And while it was nothing like the downfalls which were bringing London and the South East to a standstill, it was more than a light dusting.
Commuters awoke this morning to find the town under a blanket of snow.
The forecasters, while predicting worse to come in other parts of the country, said there would be no more today until 6pm.
But in fact, it was snowing again at 8.30am despite forecasts of “sunny intervals” for the town.
Main roads were all clear and appeared to have been well gritted. But many estate roads were like glass and motorists were advise to extreme caution on leaving home.
The weather men were advising drivers to stay at home if their journey was not essential.
Reports from the Manchester area suggested that conditions were much worse there.
But many outlying areas of Warrington were transformed into picture postcard views.
A Warrington-Worldwide cameraman took this picture of Grappenhall Village shortly before 8am.
Readers who want to keep in touch with the weather situation can do so by clicking on the link to the Met Office at the top right-hand corner of each page to receive a Warrington five-day forecast – bearing mind of course that the weather man have already been proved wrong!
