WARRINGTON based hair Salon MC2 HairDesign have reached the finals of an international beauty stylist competition after being crowned national winner of Great Britain.
Now they are competing for the renowned International Beauty Stylist of the Year 2008/09 award presented by the international cosmetics company La Biosthetique Paris. 
Under the supervision of stylist Vickie Gourley, the team of MC2 HairDesign salon, based in Stockton Heath won the qualifying round title National winner of Great Britain and are now in the finals in Berlin this April, in addition to six other finalists from France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Germany and Canada.
MC2 stylist Vickie Gourley created a graduated bob with side fringe on model April Burton (pictured left). To give the style as much movement as possible, there was a lot of texturising performed during the cut. The finish was created with a curling iron for enchanting curls. The look was livened up with a fresh, intense shade of copper and alternating light and dark sections in the same shade. “Modern Glamour” was the motto of Vickie’s winning look.
The overall look convinced the judges with its creativity and charm.
All La Biosthetique coiffeurs in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Canada and Great Britain were entitled to take part. The task was to create a complete hairstyle in which a competent jury of experts judged the quality of the style, consisting of artistic performance and technical achievement, as well as the overall impression of the photo.
Participants had to submit a before photo as well as two complete finishing variants with a front and a side view. Up until the deadline, more than 500 independently created looks from all participating countries were submitted,
including many masterpieces with great looks that featured absolutely innovative cutting techniques, richly facetted colour effects and styling to suit a particular look.
From all entries, a high-calibre international jury of experts, consisting of renowned journalists of big glossy magazines such as Vogue and Gala, as well as international top stylists, selected a total of seven national winners.
The winner of the professional award will be chosen by the international star stylist Angelo Seminara, British Hairdresser of the Year, whilst the Public Award will be selected by the readers of the celebrity magazine IN. During the international La Biosthetique congress on April 26 2009 in Berlin, star presenter Nina Ruge will reveal the secret of the two finalists as part of the traditional gala evening.
Vickie Gourley has been a hairdresser for six years. She has worked with La Biosthetique right from the outset and has been a member of the 18 strong team of Martin Coleman, owner of the salon MC2 HairDesign.
The winning look in the category National Winner of Great Britain was exclusively created with the products of La Biosthetique Paris.
