A MAN has been arrested in connection with the blaze which resulted in a row of shops being forced to close at Warrington today.
A ROW of shops was forced to close at Warrington today as a result of a major fire.
The shops are in Orford Lane and the blaze appears to have started in the roofspace of a flat above an electrical shop near Ron Spencer Cycles.
No-one is believed to have been in the properties at the time the fire broke out but fire crews are still at the scene. The road has been sealed off.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “The fire spread to a number of adjoining properties. A row of shops have been forced to close and are losing trade. “
At its peak, six fire appliances were involved in the operation, including a hydraulic platform but the spokesman said this had now been reduced to three.
The cause of the outbreak is not yet known.
