Driver in hospital after crash

POLICE are seeking witnesses after a crash which left a 30-year-old motorist in hospital with serious head injuries.
The single-vehicle crash involved a red Volkswagen Golf which careered off the road on the A57 Sankey Way, Warrington and crashed into two lamp posts.
Police are hoping to speak to anyone who saw the car in Winwick Road, in the town centre or in Old Liverpool Road.
The crash was shortly before 10pm last night (Sunday) near the Sankey Green island. The car was travelling towards Widnes when it left the road on the off-side and collided with two lamp posts.
The driver, a Warrington man, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries but was later said to be “comfortable.”
