WARRINGTON Town were a shadow of the team which impressed so much at Lancaster as they went down 0-4 at home to Newcastle Blue Star.
The visitors ran out clear winners in a game they dominated from start to finish.
Star’s new signing David Southern, only signed from Gateshead on Thursday, was on hand to tap in after only 3 minutes after good work from Paul Brayson.
The visitors were two in front on 35 minutes as Brayson went through and slotted past the goalkeeper. Player manager Steve Bowey was on hand on the stroke of half time ensuring the game was beyond Warrington.
Town’s new keeper Aaron Grundy kept the visitors at bay for much of the second half before Brayson finally added his second on 61 minutes.
Warrington’s forwards had few chances although Chris Gaghan missed a golden scoring opportunity late on after rounding the keeper but blasting high and wide.
It’s now back to the drawing board for Town’s new manager Joey Dunn as the team travel to Woodley Sports tomorrow (Tuesday) and then FA Cup giant killers Curzon Ashton on Saturday.
Team:Aaron Grundy, Jamie Holme, Chris Fitzsimmons, Paul Bowes, Anthony Kielthy, David Tickle, Phillip Hadland , Peter Moore , Chris Amadi, Philip Howard ,Chris Gahgan.
