A FORMER Warrington woman falsely claimed more than £2,300 from the borough council, the town’s magistrates court was told.
Claire Wigglesworth, 34, formerly of Peninsula House, Orford, Warrington, but now living in Widnes, admitted making false claims to obtain housing benefit and council tax benefit over a 10-month period.
The court heard the woman obtained £2,374 by claiming benefits as a single person while in fact she was living with a partner at Peninsula House.
Between July 2006 and May 2007, she defrauded the council of £2,068 housing benefit and £305 council tax benefit.
Wigglesworth was given a curfew order combined with a community punishment order. She also has to pay back £50 legal costs as well as pay back all the benefits she received.
