THREE men in a black car who drove around carrying out a series of robberies and assaults are being sought by police.
A number of young men were robbed of possessions such as mobile phones and cash and several were injured.
A 17-year-old youth was attacked in Heath Road, Penketh near Warrington. He was punched in the face and his spectacles were smashed.
Five other incidents were reported – all in the Widnes area – and all involving three men in a black Ford Fiesta car.
Police say a witness has been able to provide part of the car registration number – MT 56.
They are appealing for help from anyone who witnessed any of the attacks yesterday afternoon, Monday January 5, or who has seen the black car.
Descriptions are available for two of the offenders. One was about 6ft 2 inches tall, stocky and in his early 20s with a thin, goatee beard.
The other was about 5ft 11 inches tall, stocky and wore a grey hooded top.
They eventually fled after a dog leapt at two of the offenders as they carried out their final attack in a Widnes park.
The officer investigating the case is DC Alison Howarth, who can be contacted on 01244 613936 and information can also be left on the confidential Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111.
