Hospital radio goes all festive

A WEEK of special Christmas programming gets under way today (Friday) on Radio General – the radio station for Warrington Hospital.
A series of outside broadcasts – starting with a live concert from the Parr Hall at 7.30pm this evening – will be a feature of the week.
Warrington Male Voice choir will be giving their annual Christmas concert with guests, Bactiguard Wire Brass, and patients will be able to hear the whole concert live.
Tomorrow (Saturday), Jim Jefferies’ People and Places programme will be broadcast at 10am, from the Winter Wonderland at Walton Hall Gardens.
On Sunday (December 21) also at 7.30pm the Warrington Light Opera’s Christmas Gala Concert will be broadcast live from the Parr Hall.
The Radio General Roadshow will also be at the Walton Hall Gardens providing music on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Christmas Eve at 6.30pm, Radio General will be broadcasting live from Bethesda Evangelical Church, Stockton Heath, “The Glory of Christmas”, a concert of seasonal carols and music capturing the true spirit of Christmas.
On Christmas Day and Boxing Day Radio General will be broadcasting live to the patients.
Rugby League fans will not miss out with live coverage of the Warrington Wolves v Wigan Warriors match being broadcast on Sunday December 28 at 3pm.
Radio General secretary Keith Inman said: “Christmas is a difficult time if people are in hospital. By presenting these outside broadcasts and extra programmes over Christmas we hope that the patients can feel they are part of what’s going on around the town.
“Also if you know someone in Warrington Hospital over the Christmas period why not pass on your best wishes and seasons greetings with a Radio General Request.”
