Housing appeal rejected

PLANS for a detached dwelling at the rear of 8, Hob Hey Lane, Culcheth have been dismissed by a planning inspector.
The borough council refused permission for the development – which involved a part change of use and removal of a single storey lean-to – some time ago. But the applicant appealed against the decision.
Now a government-appointed inspector has ruled in favour of the council.
He says the proposal would contribute to a significant oversupply of housing in the borough.
Although only one dwelling, it is necessary to consider the cumulative effect of granting permission for even one dwelling whch, over time, would have a significant effect on housing oversupply.
