Ploughing leads to danger claim

OPEN land that was ploughed for safety reasons is now more dangerous than before, Stockton Heath Parish Council heard.
Members had written to Warrington Borough Council about “deep ploughing” of a field in Stretton, owned by English Partnerships (EP).
Mr J Ayre, of Appleton, had complained about the work at a field in Stretton to the south and west of Henbury Gardens. The land was previously grassed with footpaths across and was used for recreation by residents.
In reply owners said they took the action to remove health and safety hazards that could result in an accident or claim. They had put up signs to say the land was reserved for future development.
Coun Peter Walker said: “They have made the land more dangerous by ploughing it up.”
