Women avoid relegation

APPLETON – which finished bottom of the Tytherington Club Cheshire Women’s Cricket League first division last summer – has been spared relegation.
Three new clubs have joined the league and as a result Appleton will stay in the first division.
The decision is not inappropriate because the Appleton women’s team, skippered by Emma Barlow, despite coming bottom of the first division, finished the season on a high by winning the Twenty20 Plate competition staged at Warrington Sports Club and were unlucky to finish bottom in the eague.
Appleton will now play alongside champions Chester Boughton Hall, Bowdon, Oakmere, Poynton and newly promoted Hawarden Park in the top flight.
The new clubs joining the league are Trafford MV, Romiley and Dinting and New Brighton.
