WARRINGTON Town have swooped to sign Michael Owen to bolster
their squad as they prepare to mount a serious challenge on climbing the league
table.
But it is not the Newcastle striker who will be gracing
Cantilever Park but his 20-year-old namesake who is re-joining the club from
higher league Burscough.
The 5ft 10 centre midfielder (pictured right) originally joined Town from
Burscough but failed to settle in his first spell, returning to the conference
outfit for a chance to play at a higher level.
But he has now decided his future is at Warrington Town and
could be included in the squad to face unbeaten Durham City at Cantilever Park
this Saturday (Nov 29) kick off 3pm.
Manager Paul Moore said: “I wish it was Newcastle’s Michael
Owen joining the club! But our Michael is a strong intelligent ball playing
midfielder who will increase competition for places, which is always healthy.
“Michael has experienced non league football at a
higher level and is still young enough to learn and get even better.”
