POLICE officers from Warrington will be travelling to Holland to play football.
A team of 16 officers from Cheshire Police are playing in the World Police Indoor Soccer Tournament in Eibergen.
More than 150 teams are taking part in the prestigious tournament which has been running for the past 26 years – including teams from America and Australia.
Last year the Cheshire team made it to the quarter final and they are hoping to reach the finals this year.
Detective Constable Ian Hampson, stationed in Warrington, said: “This is the third year that we have taken part in the competition and we would love to return home with a trophy.
“As in previous years we are sure there will be tough competition but we are more than confident that we can beat the opposition.”
The Warrington officers practice their footballing skills in the sports hall at Cheshire Police HQ in Winsford and at Broomfields Leisure Centre in Appleton, Warrington.
