Man trapped in car for 11 hours

A MAN was trapped in his car for about 11 hours after the vehicle left the road and plunged into a field.

The car was badly damaged and the injured man

could not free himself. He had no mobile ‘phone so had to sit in the

field, off Phipps Lane, Burtonwood, Warrington until a passing motorist

spotted him.

Five emergency vehicles, including the air ambulance, were eventually called to the scene when he was eventually discovered.

The man, in his early 20s, was taken to Warrington Hospital but it is understood his injuries are not serious.

It is understood the man’s car plunged off the

road, crashing through a hedge and collided with a tree. The vehicle

was badly damaged and the driver could not extricate himself. |He sat

in the car for about 11 hours until a passerby spotted him and raised

the alarm.

Fire crews had to use cutting gear to release him.

No other vehicle was involved in the incident.
