THE husband of tragic cyclist Sharon Corless – seriously injured in the same accident in which she died – has been discharged from hospital.
Peter Corless is recovering at his home at Woolston, Warrington, being comforted by other members of the family.
He suffered leg and pelvic injuries when he and his 43-year-old wife, both riding cycles, were involved in a collision with a black 4X4 on the A50 Kingway North, near its junction with Farrell Street, on Saturday morning.
Sharon (pictured) suffered multiple injuries and died shortly after being admitted to Warrington Hospital.
The driver of the 4X4, a 35-year-old woman, was subsequently arrested and questioned by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The Corless family has issued a moving tribute to Sharon, who was a health worker employed in the ante-natal department at Warrington Hospital.
They say she was a member of a large, extended family of which she was very proud.
She loved her home, including cooking and baking cakes.
Sharon also loved cycling and she and Peter frequently went out on their bicycles.
The couple have three children, Megan, aged 20, Olivia, aged 18 and Tom, aged 12.
The family statement added: “Sharon lived life to the full. She will be very sadly missed by her family and large circle of friends.”
Police are still appealing for witnesses of the accident, which occurred at 10.52 am last Saturday.
Anyone who can help is asked to call PC Ian Stephenson on 0845 458 0000.
After being in collision with the two cyclists, the 4X4 – a Range Rover Sport – was also in collision with a Peugeot.
