TWO members of Appleton women’s cricket team received awards at the annual presentation dinner of Cheshire women’s cricket at the Tytherington Club, Macclesfield.
Emma Barlow won the Cup Cricket Batting Award: Emma Barlow while Natalie Lyons won the Cup Cricket Bowling Award.
The Appleton team also won the Twenty20 Plate Winners competition.
Given the domination of Chester Boughton Hall all season, it was little surprise when their captain Ali Cutler was voted League Player of the Year. Oakmere’s Jane Tarpey was second and Poynton’s Gillian Spragg and Clare Waterhouse of Oakmere shared third spot.
For a series of consistent and economical bowling performances, rising Neston star Abbey Gore won the Division Two Player of the Year award.
Player of the Year for the Cheshire county side went to Dawn Prestidge, who has possibly been the star performer with both bat and ball. She was presented with her award by her county coach Andy Paton, a national finalist in the Sky Sports Coach of the Year competition, who was himself honoured on the night with the President’s Award for a significant contribution to Cheshire women’s cricket.
