Webb weaves his magic

A double strike by “super sub” Billy Webb (pictured) helped Warrington Town secure an impressive 3-1 Unibond League Division One North victory at Chorley.
The Wire travelled to Chorley looking to build on the midweek win at Nostell MW, making only one change, with Danny Toone replacing Anthony Kielty.
Both sides started the game well, with Kevin Towey being first to go close, when his effort on the spin went narrowly over the bar.
The game was very open with both sides playing some good atractive football. Chorley debutant Mike Walsh was next to go close, forcing Richie Mottram into an excellent low save.
Mottram was in action soon after when he denied the same player once again. There was much excellent build up play, but no real chances at either end, as the game drifted to a 0-0 score at half time.
A double substitution at half time, saw Town come out with a more positive attitude and within six minutes had gone ahead, when Toone picked up a blocked corner and produced a fantastic cross for Anthony Daniels to head in off the post. Both sides continued to play some excellent football and Chorley equalised mid way through the half, when Toone fouled striker Mike Eckersley, who got up and narrowly dispatched the penalty past Mottram. The game continued to be open with Town going close when Phil Hadland saw his deflected shot go narrowly wide. Town went ahead in the 76th minute when subsitute Billy Webb pressurised central defender Chris Smalley into a mistake and pounced to beat keeper Zac Jones and put the ball into the open goal. Chorley went close to an equaliser when midfielder Adam Farrell, blasted a drive against the upright. Town sealed the game shortly before the end when Webb reacted first to Scott Williams excellent cross to bundle the ball beyond Jones into the net.
