THE search is on in Warrington and Cheshire for the area’s first ever “Master Chef.”
It is one of the three new categories to be introduced as part of this year’s Cheshire Awards for Tourism Skills (CATS), together with Cheshire Champion and Highly Skilled Front of House Staff.
The campaign to identify the top achievers in the tourism industry was launched with a party at Carden Park Hotel, near Chester, with guests including many of those who won last year.
Their profiles can be viewed at www.visitchesterandcheshire.co.uk/CATS2008 – which also includes details of the competition.
The awards are now in their eighth year and are organised by local tourism board, Visit Chester and Cheshire (VCC). They are open to any business connected with the visitor economy, including those involved in travel, tourism, leisure, retail, attractions, accommodation, food and drink.
More than 500 attended last year’s awards party at Tatton Park and the venue will also host this year’s Mardi Gras-themed extravaganza in November.
There are 12 categories of award including Most Promising Trainee in the Visitor Economy, Excellence in Customer Service, Unsung Hero, Most Outstanding Manager and Best Practice in Staff Training.
VCC head of business development Emma Clarke said: “CATS has an important role in helping managers and employers recognise, celebrate and encourage top standards across every area of service delivery.”
Details and application forms are available from Emma by telephoning 01244 405612 or download from www.visitchesterandcheshire.co.uk
