A FORMER Rugby League star will be putting his best foot forward when he strolls into the Halliwell Jones Stadium to raise money for charity.
Ex-St Helens and Hull FC full-back, Steve Prescott will visit the Wolves’ home turf as part of his 246 mile walk in aid of cancer research.
Steve, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2006, will be visiting 23 clubs en route to the grand final at Old Trafford.
He will be coming to the Halliwell Jones on Friday, October 3, having already covered a staggering 216 miles.
Steve said: “This year we are looking forward to more of the Rugby League Community joining in the walk, I would like to thank the RFL for giving us the permission to take the actual ball that will kick off the Grand Final to the rugby league fans of not only the Super League but also traditional clubs like Hunslet, Keighley, Halifax to name a few.
“We are asking all the clubs we visit to let us do a lap of their grounds and maybe their mascots, current players and staff could join us on the walk. We will also have the pleasure of Benevolent Fund beneficiaries such as Paul Kilbride, John Power, Pete Stephenson and Jimmy Gittens who will be joining us on the walk, I am looking forward to meeting old friends from last year’s walk and meeting new friends from this year’s challenge!”
There are already 15 people signed up to complete the full course of Rugby League’s Walk Against Cancer, but there are still two places available.
