A RELAY team backed by Mayor of Warrington Graham Welborn has successfully completed a 24-hour relay to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The relay took place at Victoria Park and, thanks to donations from local residents, Warrington has been able to donate £12,000 to universities researching ways to beat cancer.
Prospective Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington South, Jo Crotty, took part in the Mayor’s team.
She said: “It truly was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere at Victoria Park was lively and fun, and I think everyone had a really great time.
“These events bring communities together to raise money that will advance research into a disease that affects us all. So many families here in Warrington know what it is like to have someone they love living with cancer.
“The important thing is that there is hope for everyone. Excellent research into treatments is being performed right here in the North West and I am very proud to have been able to help raise money for this cause.”
