Canal boat blaze

A CANAL boat was virtually destroyed by fire near Warrington last night.
Firefighters from Stockton Heath dealt with the blaze on the Bridgewater Canal at Grappenhall but the glass fibre craft was badly damaged before they could reach the scene.
An investigation into the cause is being carried out but the circumstances are not suspicious. The boat owner was present at the time.
It is believed the fire may have started because of a fault on the engine
The boat, “Tina”, was moored close to another craft but the fire did not spread.
Our picture, taken by warrington-worldwide reader Mike Burgess, shows the blaze before fire crews reached the scene.
