Students are top of the class

TWO talented students from Warrington are celebrating after receiving regional recognition for their academic achievements.
Katie Harris, 19, was awarded the Further Education Award at the North West Learners Awards for her outstanding four A-grades in her A-Level Chemistry, Law, Maths and Further Maths.
She scored an incredible 300 out of 300 in her AS-Level Law exams and picked up her award from war-hero Simon Westong.
Another Warrington student, Naomi Cheetham, was short-listed for the Further Education Award for the vocation section at the ceremony.
Naomi, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, studied a nation BTEC Diploma in Early Years and obtained a triple distinction for her efforts.
Both students took their courses at Priestley College.
Principal Mike Southworth said: “I am delighted that two of our Sixth Form “graduates” were successful in reaching the finals of the Learning and Skills Council’s North West Learner of the Year Awards.
“It was great for them to be recognised for their achievements at the Park Royal Hotel and I was very pleased to learn that Katie won her category and that Naomi was highly commended. Both students were a credit to the College during their period of study with us.”
