Village centre is like Dodge City

STOCKTON Heath at night has been compared to “Dodge City” by an angry resident.
He turned up at a meeting of the parish council to complain about problems arising from the village centre’s booming evening economy since the opening of new bars and restaurants.
The resident complained about late night revellers and the numerous taxis doing U-turns on London Road.
A “bouncer” had to be employed of an evening to ensure people could safely withdraw money from a cash machine at a bank near the taxi rank, he claimed.
He said: “Where are we going? It is like Dodge City. Is it going to get any better or is it just a free for all?
“Last weekend there were 17 or 18 taxis all doing U-turns. They should be prosecuted.”
Chairman Coun Graham Roughsedge said he had also seen taxis doing U-turns on London Road. He had complained to the taxi licensing body, but no action had been taken.
