Fire crews fight four-hour battle

FIRE crews were involved in a four-hour battle to extinguish a blaze at a disused timber yard.
The fire was at the former Beer’s timber yard in Station Road, Latchford, Warrington.
Vandals had broken into a disused storage building a started a fire which spread into the roof void.
Flames spread rapidly because of the presence of large quantities of wood shavings.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “We had to do a lot of cutting away to get at the seat of the fire.”
Three fire engines and a hydraulic platform were involved in the operation.
