AN UP and coming Warrington band has been named as the headline act for a special concert in Germany.
Rob Hatton, Simeon Lewis, Chris Whitfield and Joseph Garner form Indie Rock group Man With The Axeman, and have been invited to perform at a concert in Cologne, as part of the Liverpool Capital of Culture celebrations.
The group was invited to the “Cologne – Liverpool Festival” after being spotted on popular broadcasting website Youtube.
Organisers of the concert have arranged everything for them while in Germany and they will perform for around an hour with another local band.
Since they formed in 2006, Man With The Axeman has performed across many different venues throughout the North West and has supported new band The Bluetones at the Liverpool Academy.
They also reached the finals on XFM’s Rock School and performed at the Broadwalk in Sheffield.
After starting off performing cover versions of classic hits, the band soon developed their own tastes and began writing their own songs, which include Salami, Posh Side of Town and They Tell Me.
Influenced by The Beatles, Gary Newman and The Smiths, the group has gathered a growing fan base and are hoping to do well in the NME Breakthrough Bands Competition.
The concert takes place on May 9 in Cologne and anyone wishing to sample the band’s music can do so by logging on to www.myspace.com/manwiththeaxeman

Why Liverpool? It has nothing to do with us, so this group must be Scousers. In which case they shouldn’t be in a Warringtron newspaper.
