A SUPERB performance by Warrington Town restricted the visitors to a handful of chances and secured a well-deserved victory.
Two goals from Thomas Lamd double and one from Carl Rendell secured the points for Town.
Kevin Towey, back from injury was outstanding in the first half, and Town also had Andy Thomas back after injury.
Town set the pace early on with a shot from Anthony Daniels well saved by Stocksbrige ‘keeper Andy Jefferey.
Francis Smith hit the side netting half way through the half and Jefferey was on hand again when Carl Rendell should of hit the back of the net on 32 minutes.
But Town would not be denied and took the lead on 45 minutes when a through ball from Rendell set up Lamb to flick the ball past Jefferey.
Stocksbridge came out in the second half looking for the equaliser but Town’s defence held firm and on 68 minutes increased their lead when a long ball by Town’s ‘keeper Diego Bassanini was put through by Lamb for Rendell to drill the ball passed Jefferey.
The best goal came four minutes from full time when Anthony Daniels’ cross was met by Lamb and his half volley sailed into the back of the net.
