The Wire sent packing in last minute drama

Belper Town 2 Warrington Town 1
The Wire travelled to Derbyshire looking to avenge two earlier defeats to their hosts, but were unable to hand a debut to new Argentinean goalkeeper Diego Bassanini, due to a lack of international clearance.
After a cautious start from both sides, Belper Town’s top goal scorer Ross Hannah headed a good chance over the bar.
An uneventful first half ended with Hannah forcing Shane McWeeney into an excellent flying save.
Warrington started the second half a lot brighter and raced into the lead just seven minutes after the restart when Kevin Towey slotted home through the legs of home keeper Paul Pettinger.
After a tactical switch, Belper came back into the game and it took a goal line clearance from captain Tom Spearitt to keep The Wire in front.
It was Warrington who squandered a couple of decent opportunities soon after, with substitute Gavin Lynch and Winger Scott Williams also failing to find the target with their efforts.
Hannah then missed the best chance of the match when he put his effort wide of target before Belper were gifted an equaliser as Spearitt’s attempted clearance hit Steve Everett and rebounded into the net.
Towey’s forceful run and shot forced Pettinger into a fine save soon after before The Wire suffered last minute heart ache as Hannah’s 25 yard drive crept under McWeeney to hand Belper all three points.
