The critics here were merciless on Beyond the Sea and the releasing studio didn’t spend a dime on advertising, but now that the DVD is out, we can see what a terrific film can be made about a famous singer with tributes to his life and his work. They don’t make movies like this anymore – they don’t get any respect but I grew up on them and this was one of the best ever.
