Johns set to return for Wolves

RUGBY League legend Andrew Johns is heading back to Warrington as part of the Wolves pre-season training plan.
Having kept in touch with many people at the club since guesting for the club in 2005, Johns will visit Warrington for two weeks in January to assist Wolves boss Tony Smith and his team in a range of coaching areas.
He will particularly focus on the area of skills coaching which is a role that he currently has with several NRL clubs, but he will also be making himself available to assist the club in whatever way he can.
Andrew (pictured right) is looking forward to coming back to Warrington and said. “I had a fabulous time when I played three matches for the Wolves four years ago. My debut against Leeds at The Halliwell Jones Stadium remains one of my personal highlights. The boys really put up their hands that day.”
Commenting on the Wolves’ recent Challenge Cup victory Johns said: “I stayed up late in Sydney to watch the match and I was pumped to see the boys win. Giving that it was the Wolves first appearance in a final for 19 years the 25-16 win over the Huddersfield Giants must have brought great joy to the club’s supporters and, of course, the team. Knowing that they had to beat Wigan in the semis to make the final was a real test for their character.”
Wolves boss Tony Smith is looking forward to what Johns can bring to the camp, saying: “To have a world-class player of his calibre will be incredibly beneficial to the whole squad, particularly the half-backs. The insight he can give on the game as a whole will be fantastic for all concerned; coaches and players alike. He is very experienced in passing on his knowledge; having done so in Australia he is well versed in passing on what helped him become the champion he was and the rugby league icon he is!”
The club will be hosting a Sportsman’s Dinner during his time here, with Johns as the guest of honour. Further details on the event will be announced shortly.
This will be a sell-out event and it is strongly advised that if you wish to attend you should email your interest to the club at [email protected]
