FIREFIGHTERS were called out to tackle a car blaze on the M6 at Woolston on Monday afternoon which caused traffic delays of around 30 minutes as two lanes were closed.

THE M6 northbound J21 sliproad at Woolston, Warrington, remained closed this morning while repairs and an extensive clean-up operation continued.

HEAVY traffic was reported on roads around Warrington this morning following a road traffic collision on the M6 at Woolston involving an overturned HGV.

A major phase of National Highways’ upgrade of the M6 between Warrington and Wigan will see overnight closures from next Monday (Feb 20), as gantries needed for electronic signs are installed along the northern section of the project.

UPDATED: A drink driver was arrested after police and fire crews were called to the M62 westbound carriageway at Winwick, Warrington, in the early hours of today following a collision between a hatchback and a large goods vehicle.

POLICE are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a collision between two HGVs on the M62 at the Croft interchange which sadly resulted in the death of one driver.

DRIVERS are being warned to plan ahead this morning following three incidents on the M62 near Warrington, including a lorry fire near Burtonwood and a serious collision involving a vehicle fire at Woolston.

THERE will be overnight closures on the M6 between Warrington and Wigan next week as a major phase of National Highways’ upgrade continues with gantries needed for electronic signs being installed along the northern section of the project.
