Grappenhall continue with winning ways

GRAPPENHALL continued with their winning ways in the second week of the shortened Vivio Cheshire County League season, all three teams picking up solid victories.
The 1st XI travelled to Davenham and dismissed the home side for 105, Sam Guest, Arran McCabe and Gaz Burns all picking up wickets.
Openers Pete Barnes and Adam Roylance hammered 35 runs in just four overs when Grappers replied, Roylance top scored with 39 and then Ben Bodha and Richard Green both hit undefeated 20s before Grappenhall won by eight wickets.
Grappenhall 2nd ran riot against the Davenham second string at Broad Lane,  hammering a massive 257-1 and then tumbling out the visitors for a meagre 31.
Arthur Pennington hit 100 not out and William Fell 113 not out and then Matt Titchard took 4-6 to carry Grappers to an incredible 226-run victory.
Grappenhall 3rd dismissed Alderley Edge for 148, Noah Hayes taking three wickets and Zac Judge two.
When Grappers batted Alex Perry just missed out on his maiden century when he ran out of overs, winning the match with a well struck boundary but finishing on 96 not out.
Warrington suffered a mauling at Bowdon where the home side hit 155, Rishav Manta taking 3-33 but Warrington could only muster 55 in reply, only two batsmen reaching double figures.
Warrington 2nd played two T20 games against Oxton and lost both. In the first, Warrington hit 88-9 only to see the visitors hit off the runs for the loss of only one wicket.
In the second, Warrington managed 102-4 but Oxton again reached their target, this time for the loss of two wickets.
In the UK Fast Cheshire League, Appleton held on for a draw in a high scoring game against Langley, who batted first and hit a formidable 239-5.
Adam Pearson top scored with 86 as Appleton replied with 199-7 and Davis Lomas, 29 not out and Ed Sygrove, 25,  contributed useful innings.
Appleton 2nd hit 160-9 against Wirral and then dismissed the visitors for 60.
David Hurst hit 29, Andrew Jacxkson 29 not out and Richard Buck 21 as Appleton batted and Phil Jackson, 3-5, Alex Warham, 2-15 and Andrew Jackson, 2-8 were the most effective bowlers.
Appleton 3rd hit 180-8 against Prestbury, Mark Sands hitting 38 and Nick Williams 70.  Prestbury won the game with  five wickets to spare  and Jonathan Owen was the pick of Appleton’s bowlers with 2-39.
A fine innings of 46 by Sam Thorley wasn’t enough to save Appleton 4th at Hartford where the  home team hit 109-1 in reply to Appleton’s 106 all out.
Warrington 3rd coasted to a nine wicket victory over Stockport after dismissing them for 59, W Qayum taking 4-23 abd Emily Page 3-29.
Lymm Oughtrington Park won by two wickets after dismissing Wilmslow for 109  and the Lymm 2nd XI enjoyed a seven wicket victory over Wilmslow 2nd after restricting them to 171-9. Shovan Chatterjee took 4-43 while Josh Donley top scored with 62 not out and Prashant Nanda hit 41
