Motorist seriously injured following collision at Grappenhall

POLICE investigating an accident at Grappenhall involving a car and a HGV earlier today are appealing for witnesses after the driver of the car was seriously injured.

Police were informed of the collision in Grappenhall Lane, Warrington at 11:29.
Officers attended the scene and discovered that the collision involved a black Alfa Romeo car and a Mercedes HGV.
The driver of the car was injured as a result of the incident.
He was taken in an ambulance to Aintree University Hospital with what are believed to be serious but not life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the incident Grappenhall Lane was closed in both directions between Broad Lane and Cliff Lane.
The road was reopened shortly before 5pm.
