Family tree researcher seeking relatives of “Jack” Jones and Lily Morton

A Family tree researcher is seeking to trace relatives of “Jack” Jones and Lily Morton who lived in the Lymm area at the turn of the last century.

James Jones is undertaking family/genealogical research on behalf of his grandparents and is looking for information about the relatives and family of John Willie Jones (thought to be known as ‘Jack’) and married to Lily (nee Morton), both born at the turn of the century.
‘Jack’ lived in Lymm most of his life and his wife Lily is local to the area; the pair and their families have strong ties to the Lymm/Altrincham area – especially Rush Green Road, where they may have
lived as late as the 1960s and 70s.
The Morton family are still believed to have a large farming presence in the area. ‘Jack’ and Lily are thought to have had several children, perhaps seven, the oldest Dorothy (‘Dolly’ b 1925), the
majority of whom lived and worked and had families locally to Lymm.
Two of Jack’s siblings – Albert Jones (b.1902 married Dora Partington) and Eva Palmer (b 1908, wife of Ernest) also lived, worked and started families in the area.
Albert and Dora are thought to have lived with and had close links to the extended Morton family. The rest of the Jack’s siblings and family have links to the Glossop and Littleborough areas.

James came across an obituary in the August 2017 edition of Lymm Life for a Vincent Jones who died that same year.
He has found some old wedding photos that he presumes to be from the wedding of Dorothy ‘Dolly’ Jones in the 1940s or 50s. She would be Jack’s and Lily’s eldest child. Her husband might be called James Sanders.
The photo with just six people in has John Willie ‘Jack’ Jones and Lily Jones (nee Morton) to the bride’s left, and the groom’s parents to his right.
The large group photo has various unknown people in but may include Jack and Lily, as well as his siblings and in-laws Ernest and Eva Palmer (nee Jones) and Albert and Dora Jones (nee Partington), and other children of Jack and Lily who would have been from the Lymm area.
If any one can help James with his family research please contact him via [email protected]
