LYMM Police are urging members of the public to stay at home after saying the village was busier this weekend than last year despite being in the midst of lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic.
They say they have moved lots of people on during the past two days, with people sitting on benches for more than 30 minutes.
Lymm Police posted on their facebook group: “Have to admit been very frustrating this weekend, the village has been busier than it was this time last year!!
We are still on lockdown, you should only be travelling if it is necessary.
Think just because you can, doesn’t me that you should.
Moved on lots of people in the last 2 days, people sitting on benches for over 30 minutes. I understand that it is difficult but people are still dying in this country in high numbers. Please think when you leave the house.
“Lots of engagement at the moment, hopefully we do not have to go any further. The more we follow the rules the sooner we can be back to normal.”
Five people were recently fined after being caught having a party on a narrowboat moored on the Bridgewater Canal in the village.
Lymm Dam is a popular visitor attraction.
