Never too old to rock! Magnum Warrington Parr Hall

0

THE old adage “Never too old to rock” is certainly true when it comes to classic rockers Magnum.

With founder members Bob Catley (Vocals) who must have the busiest arms and hands in rock music and guitarist/songwriter Tony Clarkin still at the helm, the vintage rockers made a return trip to Warrington Parr Hall, as part of their 40th anniversary tour.

Although the Birmingham based rockers formed in 1972, they went their separate ways in 1995, reforming again in 2001, enjoying a resurgence in interest with their Escape from the Shadow Gardens in 2014 and more recently Lost on the Road to Eternity last year.

With a back catalogue of 20 studio albums it is near impossible to play everybody’s favourites, especially with an audience age range of 18-70 who all embarked on the Magnum journey at different stages in their lengthy career.

For fans of the bands from the 80s (like me) it is hard to imagine a set list without the likes of “On a Storyteller’s Night” and “Just Like an Arrow.” and more recent singles “Too Many Clowns” and “Peaches & Cream.”

But with so many anthems and crowd pleasers there was still plenty on offer for the enthusiastic Parr Hall crowd.

It was great to catch up with the band in my home town and with Catley promising the crowd they would be back next year, with big news in January and another studio album planned for 2020 there is still no sign of an end to the road to eternity for these classic rockers!
