Police launch appeal after victim suffers head injuries during town centre assault

POLICE are urging witnesses to come forward after a young man suffered head injuries when he was assaulted in Warrington town centre.

The incident occurred on Bridge Street, near the Reef Bar, shortly after 4.30am on Bank Holiday Monday 6 May.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from Warrington, was assaulted by an unknown man.

He sustained head injuries as a result of the incident. The victim was taken to hospital but has since been discharged after receiving treatment.

The man who assaulted him was white and was wearing a black T-shirt and a gilet.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or has any other information that may help their investigation, to get in touch.

They also want to hear from anyone who believes that they may know who assaulted the victim or have CCTV or mobile phone footage of him.

Police Constable Andrew Pringle said: “The victim was assaulted on a night out and sustained head injuries that required hospital treatment.

“The incident has understandably left him shaken up and we are determined to establish who assaulted him and make them face the consequences of their actions.

“Enquiries are ongoing and as part of our investigation we are appealing for anyone who was in Warrington town centre and witnessed the incident to come forward.

“We also want to speak to anyone who believes they may know who assaulted the victim or have CCTV or mobile phone footage of him.”
