Firefighters tackle propane gas cylinder blaze

THREE fire crews were called out to tackle a fire involving a propane gas cylinder at Walton, Warrington.

Firefighters from Lymm, Penketh and Warrington were called to reports of a fire in the open on Thomasons Bridge Lane, Walton, shortly before 4pm yesterday (Tuesday).

On arrival at the scene they discovered that a cylinder containing approximately 50 litres of propane gas was well alight.

Firefighters used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and cool the cylinder. They also monitored the temperature of the cylinder with a thermal imaging camera.

The team were detained at the scene for approximately 25 minutes.
